Áinne Burke studied fine art (painting, sculpture and drawing) in
the Regional Technical College in Galway, Ireland, and the National
College of Art in Dublin, Ireland, graduating in 1977. She exhibited
in Ireland and Spain in the 1970's and 1980's and began facilitating
visual creativity workshops for young people and adults from the
time she graduated. She became involved in various projects on the
theme of culture, the arts and humanities (eg, 'Aggression, Cultures
and Emotions' in the Physiology Department in the University College
Galway, Ireland). In the late 1980's Áinne trained as a television
producer/director, producing and directing documentaries for international
broadcast on the themes of culture, creativity and the arts. In
1988, she trained as a New Media Producer/Director in the UK and
has been producing on CD ROM, DVD and the web since then.
In the early nineties, Áinne's work expanded and she began
to provide creativity training for the international audio-visual
broadcast industry and media colleges in Ireland, Canada, Norway,
Sweden, UK, France, Spain, Switzerland and Denmark. This ultimately
led to a demand for structured learning materials on the theme of
creativity that other trainers and educators could use. She delivered
papers to the European Broadcast Union in Geneva on the subject
of Interactive Production and Creative Expression using New Media.
In the early 1990's Áinne devised, produced and directed "Courage
to Create", an interactive foundational training title targeted
at colleges and audio-visual professionals internationally. She
is committed to developing creative learning in our education systems
and is working on the first draft of a book on 'Understanding Creativity'
(working title) for the general public.
