The teacher will schedule a third of the time of all exercises
in Modules 1 and 2 and Exercises 1-3 in Module 3 to exploration.
In addition, all of Exercise 4 in Module 3 is dedicated to exploration.
There are many ways to explore. In this program, exploration is
not intended to be an open-ended experience based on free associative
and non-associative thinking across an undefined subject matter.
Instead it is a guided activity linked to a specific exercise theme,
purpose and duration.
Guided exploration example: "You are an explorer of the sounds you
can make with your body and voice. For the next 20 minutes you will
be working on your own/or in a group. You are going to concentrate
on discovering all the sounds you can make with your voice, all
the rhythms you can make while clapping your hands, stamping your
feet, quiet sounds and loud sounds. I or a fellow student will record
the sounds on a mini-disk. You will create many, many possibilities
so that when you have finished exploring you can listen and assess
your rhythms and sounds."
