'The Discovery of Music and Sound' is an exciting new Music
Program devised for the 2nd phase of the 'Cultural Ireland'
creative journey. The Music/Creativity Program is a 12-session
cycle. The curriculum resources are published on CD's, CD
ROM and on this project website
The first phase of this project focused on Information Communication
and Technology (ICT) and Irish music while the current phase
focuses on Music and Creativity in the wider context. Additional
learning journeys are planned for the Visual Arts, Film, TV/Radio,
Literature, Sports and Science.
This music program was devised, designed, produced and directed
by Áinne Burke in consultation with teachers in the program,
Ronan Doherty, Niamh Coffey and the Steering Committee members
Michael Hallissy and Marie Martin.
Cultural Ireland
Cultural Ireland is a collaborative initiative to promote,
develop and foster creative learning using ICT tools. It is
a joint initiative of the Departments of Education, Northern
Ireland, the Department of Education and Science, the Republic
of Ireland and the Department of Education in the United States
of America
The Western Education Library Board (WELB) in Northern Ireland,
the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE) in
the Republic of Ireland and The John F. Kennedy Centre for
the Performing Arts in the USA implement and direct this exciting
project, on behalf on their respective jurisdictions. The
project aims to explore and develop creative programs for
schools through the use of Information Communication and Technology
(ICT) in each of the three jurisdictions.
